Brangelina: Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt Gossip

Saving the World, One Child at a Time

Much more important than Oscars

Feb 26th, 2007 by brangelina

Angelina has just hit a double play.

First, she’s in Africa right now. From People Magazine,

Angelina Jolie is back in Africa, traveling for a third time on behalf of the United Nations to monitor the crisis in Darfur, PEOPLE has learned exclusively.

This time, Jolie, the Goodwill Ambassador for UNHCR, the U.N. refugee agency, will not be allowed to actually go to Darfur itself, due to the violent, unstable conditions. On Sunday, Jolie arrived in N’Djamena, Chad, and she’s scheduled to visit refugee camps about two miles from the border of Sudan.

Don’t forget folks, the issues in Darfur have not gone away! It’s as worse as it has ever been. They’re on the verge of dropping the “G” word to describe it … genocide. I just don’t get it. It seems that Africa always gets neglected.
I guess either there’s no oil in it or it’s blatant discrimination. It’s morally sick. In the mid 90′s, 500,000 to 1,000,000 lost their lives in the Rwandan Genocide over only a 100 day period and the world just stood by and watched. Go rent Hotel Rwanda and let it chill your bones.

On a much nicer note, Angelina Jolie has been nominated for the Council on Foreign Relation. Now, don’t think this is just a nice pat on the back. This club is very exclusive with names like Colin Powell, Alan Greenspan, Henry Kissinger, Madeleine Albright, and Condoleezza Rice. It’s the big leagues baby.
