In response to Kate’s last entry..basically you are saying that Angelina should STOP doing any charitable acts, kind gestures…because she’s at odds with her father. YOU don’t know what REALLY went on with her father, & you have NO right to judge. I’ve read most of your NEGATIVE posts and I feel that you are just not a happy person. Are you envious of AJ’s ability to do her humanitarian work, have tons of money, family life .. be with Brad .. and RECOVER from her past addictions? So in fact if she was this piece of garbage you think she is — heroine etc., she managed to get up and make her life better…

I think anyone who takes on a brood out of empathy and provides them opportunity in life, helps them appreciate their native culture, and in turn shows the world that these places are hurting– those kinds of people are hot. It just so happens she’s hot in other ways too, being genetically gifted and all :).

Didi, I just want to state that I am not even remotely intersted in Britney Spears’ underwear or lack there of. I dont think I had anything mentioned about that in my post :)
Thank you for a civilized response, often one gets an insulting and irrelevant response when expressing opinions that go against the pre-dominant opinion.
There many celebrities who are very involved with charities, who are good will ambassadors as well. Like Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Mila Yovovic and others. However, they are quite decreet about it. I saw some documentary on the issue of celebrity charity work and P. Cruz said something in it that I thought was very genuine and honorable. When asked about what she does charity wise, she told about what she does (involves travelling to other contries) and then added that she does not like to talk about it and doesnt, she just does it. There were many interviews with many celebrities in that documentary and most of them are very involved and nobody knows. To me personally such kind of charity is the most true, modest, you know, not in your face kind of thing. After all, to be truly charitable one has to be modest because then it more about the other person then oneself. No personal gain. AJ doesnt seem to posess that modesty to me yet, that is why her work, although honorable in principle, does not ring that true to me.
It was funny how you mentioned that I live in a bubble, ‘a sheltered life’, and do not realise there are unfortunate people in the world or I dont care. You dont know me, so I will say that you made a very inaccurate assumption. Like any person I see the world around me, I see the misfortunate, I help those I can. However, that said, I must say that I dont buy into anything, any hoopla, that resembles the slogan ‘Who is going to think about the children?’ that is so often ‘cried out in vain’. I beleive in actions a lot more I believe in words.
I think what I am trying so say here is that Angelina Jolie is way overexposed and gets way more hype that she probably should. I think it happens because she is very beautiful. Which is kind of funny, i.e. it shows that our society is still quite shallow. Angelina gets humanitarian credit for something that is in essence should be credited only when it is done descreetly, out of the public eye. To me it became a joke when that woman drew the painting of Saint Angelina with weird looking kids on the clouds over a supermarket. I never laughed so hard. More funny was that noone mocked it, that ‘art’ was taken seriously.

I must say Angirespctr supported this point of mine with this:
“5. They are both so smokin hot, that’s why everyone follows them around: they are a supercouple. But they are also real people TRYING to live a real life.” “Real people” that are superhot. I wonder does ‘hot’ describe personality in this case? I mean, they are real people but we dont know them, at least I dont. What can I say? Paris Hilton all the way, I think she summarized our whole decade with ‘That’s hot’. It’s hot to adopt, its hot to be humanitarian. Well, not for me.

P.S. its just an opinion, dont tear me apart :)

1) Angelina doesn’t ‘flaunt’ her humanitarianism. The press follows her everywhere. Do you think she calls all her paparazzi friends before she jets off to Africa or Cambodia?

2) Ang never ‘trapped’ Brad. He was smitten from the start. Who wouldn’t be? She seems like a ‘real’ person despite being an activist.

3) When they look upset in pictures, it could be that there are photographers constantly monitoring their every move. That has to get exhausting. Who has a smile on their face 24/7? Moreover, who is in a perfectly happy mood all the time? Add family dynamics to that, and voila.

4) Angelina doesn’t talk to her dad because OBVIOUSLY he deceived her in some way. She’s probably cutting off from him to better her live somehow.

5) They are both so smokin hot, that’s why everyone follows them around: they are a supercouple. But they are also real people TRYING to live a real life.

i totally agree wiith MARIA and DIDI…In addition, Angelina Jolie is cleaning up her dirty acts, She’s like buying her ticket to heaven. It seems like it’s ok with her to ignore her dad, but do merciful acts to other people. Helping is a very good gesture but if you want a peaceful,happy and harmonous life,you should start with yourself first. Fix all your personal problems, your own family, your dad… She won’t be where and who she is right now if it wasn’t for her dad. That’s the reason I don’t understand what she’s doing. How can someone, like angelina jolie, a humanitarian, be so unforgiving and ignorant on her fathers needs?

uh… why do the opinions on this get polarized you ask? did you note the website name? i have to respectfully disagree with what you’ve posted. Humanitarian causes, no matter how geniune, can always be interpreted as the desire to get press from it. Although, if that was fully true, more of hollywood would become equally involved. As far as Angelina goes, she doesnt just give income- she spends most of her time in 3rd world countries. She also serves as a good will embassador. Im not saying the woman should apply for sainthood or anything, but i dont see Paris Hilton doing anything even remotely similar. And Paris has the same, if not more, press time than Angelina Joli. Seems to be the much easier way…I wonder why Angelina opted for a much more difficult way of achieving press…including creating an entire family. Wouldnt public flashing be a faster way? Furthermore, even if she was a jerk and adopted her children just for the attention, (which i doubt is even sort of true), she should still get the credit for the awareness she brings to the public eye. Or perhaps you’ve led a moderately sheltered life, Maria, and dont understand, or care to- that there are unfortunate people on this globe. And perhaps a little exposure isnt harmful. And you know what? Id rather her get that message out, whatever the motives, than hear anymore about britney spears underwear. But i suppose this is where our ideologies divide.
