CNN, 10PM Tonight, Be There.
Jun 20th, 2006 by brangelina
Angelina Jolie’s 1st post Shiloh birth American interview will be tonight on Anderson Cooper 360°.
Had did Cooper get the exclusive? his charm, his wit, … nope. It’s his interest of Africa.
Today, of course, is World Refugee Day. (Check out the middle of the right hand column for World Refugee Day events in your country.)
Please Anderson, at least drop the “B” word! Everyone knows marriage plans are way off the table. So, you don’t need to go there. Ask her what she thinks of the term “Brangelina”. I’m sure, of course, if Cooper had mentioned the words Brangelina or wedding, Angelina would have walked out of the interview. She’s not brain dead like Britney Spears who allowed herself to be trapped in tears by a reporter.
Still, Angelina will throw out a few good personal tidbits like future adoption plans, how Shiloh has changed her life, and how scared she was about the birth. Maybe Angelina will drop a bombshell and tell everyone that she’s permanently quitting the Hollywood scene to become a full time mom but she’ll still keep her part time UN Refugee Goodwill Ambassador job.
For some nice details about the interview, go straight to Anderson Copper’s 360° blog.
What I do know is that CNN did not pay anything — directly or indirectly — to get Angelina Jolie to sit down for an interview.
So why did she do it? And why talk to me?
Both are valid questions. I’m sure there were plenty of news programs requesting interviews with Angelina Jolie. The truth is, mine wasn’t one of them. They called us. I was told that they were aware of my interest in Africa and knew that as a broadcast we have devoted a lot of time to reporting stories from the continent.
I’m not sure what I expected before I met her, but to say I was impressed would be an understatement. She is smart, funny, self-deprecating, and intensely passionate about her children and her work on behalf of refugees.
Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET, you will hear Angelina Jolie talk about some of the experiences in refugee camps that have changed her life. Yes, you will also learn about Angelina’s family — Maddox and Zahara as well as Shiloh Nouvel — but the focus of the interview is the plight of refugees.
