It’s official, Maddox and Zahara are now Jolie-Pitts.

That doesn’t mean Brad has adopted them yet. I like the way the article put it:

Pitt is referred to as “the adoptive father-to-be” in Jolie’s petition, suggesting another court round will be in order to give him the legal right to order Maddox and Zahara to clean their rooms.

Let’s see if I understand this process. Step one – name change; step two – adopted father status. So, even though they share his hyphenated name, he still is not the legal dad. Am I right? How convoluted, but…I guess this is hopefully to protect the kids.
Now, if Brad were to marry their mom before the second step, would this second step still be required, or, would he have to start all over again, but now as a step dad requesting with their mom to adopt them.
